Last Friday, Abby was in one of her “Trouble Moods”. I had some errands to run Friday morning. I needed to go to the grocery store to get some things to make Chile Verde for dinner. I also got some dog treats, and put the small bag in the cabinet and closed the door. Later that day, it came time to get my Crockpot out of the same cabinet, where I put the dog treats. Well I needed both hands to carry the Crockpot to the counter, so I did not shut the cabinet door right then. I got so involved in making the Chile Verde; I forgot that I left the cabinet door open. I was cooking away, and all of a sudden I heard a big bang, looked in that direction, and did not see anything, except the dog dish was disturbed. I kept cooking away, but something told me I should go and look for Abby. I went to the patio door, and there she was outside chomping away on the new bag of dog treats. She had ripped open the bag and was having a hay day; fortunately I got to her in time before she ate too many of them.
About an hour later, I was in my office working away, and I thought to myself, self maybe you should go and check on Abby. Sure enough, I walked down the hall, and there in a million pieces were about four plastic bags, I had forgotten to put the bags away, what a mess that was. I picked up that mess and, went back into the office, but I checked on her about every 20 minutes or so and she was ok.
Well, I went out to check on dinner, and was walking down the hall, back to the office, Abby saw me coming and made a beeline out the doggie door. So off I ran to see what she had, and sure enough, she went into the bathroom, and got a lint roller off the counter. She did not want to give it up, she ran and ran, back and forth in the yard, and would not give it up, it was quite the battle, but in the end I won, got it before she could destroy it.
